Larry Culpepper, MD, MPH, is professor of family medicine and was the founding chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and his master of public health degree from Boston University. An active researcher, Dr Culpepper has conducted federally funded studies of depression and anxiety, otitis media, and school-based and community interventions to improve pregnancy outcomes. He has served as president of the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG), and has chaired or served as a member of research grant review committees for 5 National Institutes of Health and other federal agencies, and has served on 6 federal expert panels for consensus committees or evidence-based centers. He is a member of National Sleep Foundation, the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, and The Anxiety Disorders Association of America scientific advisory boards and editor of The Primary Care Companion for CNS Disorders.
 
Dr Culpepper was the 2012 NSF annual meeting program chair. In 1997 he received the NAPCRG-STFM Career Research Award, and in 1998 was elected to the Institute of Medicine; in 2010 he received the NAPCRG Maurice Wood Lifetime Research Award. He was the primary care member of an Institute of Medicine study on the Assessment of Ongoing Efforts in the Treatment of PTSD, a congressionally mandated 4-year study evaluating Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs programs for treating post-traumatic stress disorder.

Ruth Benca, MD, PhD, received her undergraduate education at Harvard University and her medical degree and a doctor of philosophy degree in pathology from the University of Chicago. She is currently professor in the Department of Psychiatry and in the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and director of the University of Wisconsin Center for Sleep Medicine and Sleep Research. She also serves as the medical director for Wisconsin Sleep, where she treats patients with a broad range of sleep disorders.
 
Dr Benca’s research focuses on the interface between sleep and psychiatric disorders and she has served as principal investigator for a number of basic and clinical research studies, funded by agencies including the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense. Her work focuses primarily on the relationship between sleep and psychiatric disorders and has spanned basic research studies in animal models to clinical research studies and clinical trials in humans. She has authored more than 100 articles, reviews, and book chapters as well as a single-authored handbook, Sleep Disorders: The Clinician’s Guide to Diagnosis and Management, published by Oxford University Press. She has served as president of the Sleep Research Society and has been on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. She is a member of several editorial boards, including as deputy editor of Sleep: Journal of Sleep and Sleep Disorders Research and a section editor of UpToDate.

Angela Golden, DNP, FNP-C, FAANP, is the past president of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and a family nurse practitioner. She provides clinical services as a family nurse practitioner in her own practice and in urgent care. She received her doctor of nursing practice from Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona, with an emphasis in evidenced-based practice and health policy. She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and chapters, and has presented locally, nationally, and internationally on varied topics for primary care.
