Jared Weiss, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He completed his BS in neuroscience at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island; his Doctor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut; his residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston; and his fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.Dr. Weiss’s teaching within the university is integrated with his clinical practice and research efforts. He is an active clinical trialist; he is currently the lead principal investigator (PI) on seven investigator-initiated trials and site PI on numerous others. Previous research has resulted in dozens of papers and abstracts.
Dr. Weiss is active in the area of direct patient education. He has generated more than 50 videos and articles for the cancer information website CancerGrace.org and also serves on its board. Dr. Weiss is an active advocate for lung cancer patients and serves on the board of the Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina. He is also active in physician education, travelling nationally as a discussant at American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Thoracic Society as well as delivering numerous continuing medical education lectures.

Hossein Borghaei, DO, is an associate professor in the department of medical oncology at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. He completed his BS in biology at St. Joseph’s University; his MS in microbiology and immunology at Temple University; his DO at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine; his residency at Graduate Hospital; and his fellowship at the Fox Chase Cancer Center, all in Philadelphia.Dr. Borghaei has been involved in a number of early and late stage clinical trials in immunotherapy of patients with lung cancer, and he is the author and/or a co-author of several papers and abstracts. In 2011, he received the Robert Krigel Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence from the Fox Chase Cancer Center. Dr. Borghaei serves on the Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Committee for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and on the Thoracic Oncology Core Committee for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group.
